IndiGo flight receives bomb threat mid-air, aircraft declared safe after landing: Hindustan Times

An IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Delhi received a bomb threat while airborne on Tuesday morning, Hindustan Times reports, triggering an alarm among agencies and initiating a swift security response. According to officials, a threat note with the word ‘BOMB’ written on it was found in one of the lavatories by a crew member, who immediately alerted the pilot. The pilot then informed local air traffic control (ATC). Following protocol, bomb threat assessment committees (BTAC) were formed simultaneously at both Mumbai and Delhi airports to evaluate the situation and decide on further action, the report says. 8 killed in car bombing, firing outside Frontier Corps HQ in Pak's Quetta, India Today

 

Quetta was rattled by a powerful car bomb on Tuesday when an explosion tore through a busy street outside the Frontier Constabulary (FC) headquarters, killing at least eight people and injuring more than 19, India Today reports. Balochistan Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar confirmed the toll, warning that casualties could rise, as per Pakistani publication, the Dawn. The blast, which was heard across Model Town and adjoining areas, shattered windowpanes of homes and commercial buildings. Gunfire rang out soon after, heightening panic in the sensitive locality. Leaders in Middle East and Europe welcome Trump's Gaza peace plan, BBC reports

BBC reports that European and Middle Eastern leaders have welcomed a US peace plan for Gaza, as US President Donald Trump warned Hamas to accept it. The plan, agreed by Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, proposes an immediate end to fighting, the release within 72 hours of 20 living Israeli hostages held by Hamas as well as the remains of the more than two dozen hostages who are believed to be dead - in exchange for hundreds of detained Gazans. Hamas officials have been given the 20-point plan, a Palestinian source told the BBC. The plan also says Hamas will have no role in governing Gaza, and leaves the door open for an eventual Palestinian state - but Netanyahu later again ruled this out. Read the full report here.

 

Heavy rain, thunderstorm in Delhi and Noida, airlines issue advisory: NDTV

Heavy rain and thunderstorms lashed parts of Delhi on Tuesday, bringing relief from the scorching heat over the past few days, NDTV reports. Many areas in the city were waterlogged, disrupting traffic movement. Visuals showed the Zakhira underpass in the national capital waterlogged, with people trying to walk through the flooded street. Airlines have also issued advisories, warning passengers of temporary disruptions in flight schedules. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an 'orange' alert for heavy rainfall today. Al Jazeera on school collapse in Indonesia that left three dead, 38 missing

 

At least three students have been killed and dozens are missing following the collapse of an Islamic boarding school in Indonesia’s East Java province, authorities have said. Al Jazeera reports that National Search and Rescue Agency head Mohammad Syafii said as of 12.30pm (0530 GMT) on Tuesday, “the number of victims is 102 people, consisting of 99 survivors, 3 deaths”. Rescuers are searching for 38 people believed to be trapped under the rubble following the building collapse, the National Agency for Disaster Management said. Read the full report here.
