Supreme Court flags 'growing trend' of own benches overturning past verdicts
The Supreme Court on Wednesday sternly condemned the rising practice of "bench hunting", where litigants approach a subsequent bench to reopen and overturn an earlier ruling, India Today reports. The court cautioned that allowing such attempts would erode the finality of judgments guaranteed under Article 141 of the Constitution. "In the recent past, we have rather painfully observed a growing trend in this court (of which we too are an indispensable part) of verdicts pronounced by Judges, whether still in office or not and irrespective of the time lapse since pronounced, being overturned by succeeding benches or specially constituted benches at the behest of some party aggrieved by the verdicts prior in point of time," LiveLaw quoted a bench of Justices Dipankar Datta and Augustine George Masih as saying. Cyclone ‘Ditwah’ forms over Bay of Bengal, Hindustan Times

While the weather system in Strait of Malacca which intensified and became Cyclone ‘Senyar’ moved away from the Indian coast, Hindustan Times reports that another low-pressure area over southwest Bay of Bengal has turned into a cyclonic storm, with landfall expected on Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coast by November 30. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in the early hours o Thursday Cyclone Senyar lay 850 km southeast of Car Nicobar - northernmost island of the Nicobar Islands - and was expected to weaken into a depression by evening. Another weather system, however, parallelly brewed over southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of southeast Sri Lanka and Equatorial Indian Ocean, the report says. Read the full report here.
The Straits Times: US airports hit by disruptions ahead of Thanksgiving travel boom
US travellers faced some early disruptions to their Thanksgiving plans after air traffic at some of the country’s busiest airports was halted. The Straits Times reports that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Nov 26 issued brief ground stops at LaGuardia and Newark airports, two of America’s busiest by passenger traffic, that have since lifted. It has also issued a ground stop for John F. Kennedy International Airport that will last between 6.45pm and 8.30pm local time. Read the full report here.
19-year-old arrested from Jammu over suspected terror links: NDTV report
A 19-year-old man has been arrested by Jammu Police for his alleged involvement in terror activities, NDTV reports. The suspect, a resident of Reasi in Jammu, had been living in Bathindi area from where he was picked up by the police. Preliminary investigation revealed that he was radicalised online and was allegedly planning to carry out a terror act. The report says it has also surfaced that he was in touch over mobile phone with handlers based in Pakistan and other foreign countries. He was arrested in connection with an FIR registered under Section 113(3) (terrorist activity) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) filed at Bahu Fort police station. Read the full report here.
At least 55 dead and hundreds missing in Hong Kong fire, BBC reports

At least 55 people have been killed in a huge fire engulfing a high-rise public housing complex in Hong Kong - hundreds are still unaccounted for, BBC reports. The blaze tore through seven of eight tower blocks in Tai Po district. Fires are under control in four, and officials hope to quell those remaining by evening. Wang Fuk Court is home to some 4,600 residents, according to the latest figures. The report says it's unclear how many were inside when the fire broke out. Read the full report here.
