Delhi CM Rekha Gupta talks cloud seeding amid poor AQI, Hindustan Times 

Amid the rising air pollution levels following the festival of Diwali, Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta on Friday deemed cloud seeding a “necessity” for the national capital, Hindustan Times reports. The BJP leader's remarks come a day after she announced artificial rain plans for the national capital. After conducting a test in the Burari area of New Delhi, chief minister Rekha Gupta stated that if the weather conditions remain favourable, the national capital will witness its first artificial rain next week, the report says. Indian Express on Kurnool bus fire tragedy

 

Many of the passengers aboard the bus that caught fire following an accident in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool narrowly escaped through smoke, fire and broken glass, and Indian Express reports that they described the chaotic scenes that unfolded on the highway to Bengaluru at around 3 am on Friday. Authorities said the bus caught fire after it got into an accident with a motorcycle. At least 19 passengers on the bus and the motorcycle rider died, the report adds. Officials in Andhra Pradesh said the bus had all the required permits and got its licence to operate from the Odisha Road Transport Authority. Read the full report here.

 

Trump says trade talks with Canada 'terminated' over anti-tariffs advert, BBC reports

BBC reports that US President Donald Trump has announced an immediate end to all trade negotiations with Canada over an advert critical of the tariffs he has imposed on the nation. The advert, sponsored by the government of Canada's province of Ontario, quoted Trump's predecessor, Ronald Reagan, an icon of US conservatism, saying tariffs "hurt every American". The report mentions that Trump wrote on social media that the advert was "FAKE" and "egregious", adding that trade talks were "HEREBY TERMINATED". Read the full report here.

 

RSF drones target Sudan’s Khartoum in fourth day of sustained attacks: Al Jazeera

The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have targeted Sudan’s capital Khartoum and its main airport with drones for a fourth consecutive day, Al Jazeera reports, as the government-aligned Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) attempts to resume air traffic after regaining control of the city several months ago. Drones and surface-to-air missiles were heard above the capital in the early hours of Friday morning, residents living close to the Khartoum International Airport told Al Jazeera, before loud explosions went off. Taliban-ruled Afghanistan to restrict river water to Pakistan, India Today

 

Taliban-ruled Afghanistan is planning to build dams and restrict water to Pakistan, India Today reports according to the Afghan Information Ministry. The order to build a dam on the River Kunar "as fast as possible" came from Taliban Supreme Leader Mawlawi Hibatullah Akhundzada. This public assertion about the "right to water" came just weeks after Afghanistan and Pakistan fought a war that left hundreds dead.
