Centre dismisses social media claims that 3,000 Ukrainians entered India, NDTV reports

The government on Friday debunked social media claims that 3,000 Ukrainians have entered India and are hiding in the northeast to train insurgent groups, calling these posts "Fake". NDTV reports that the statement said "7 individuals (6 Ukrainians and 1 American) have been arrested by the NIA for illegal entry into Myanmar via Mizoram. Hindustan Times: Delhi wakes up to dense fog, rare sighting for March end

 

A dense layer of fog enveloped parts of Delhi and neighbouring regions, including Noida, on Saturday morning. Hindustan Times reports that the national capital continues to witness an unusual March marked by low temperatures, better air quality index (AQI) and heavy rainfall. Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro under investigation in US for drug ties: Al Jazeera

Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro has been named in two separate criminal investigations led by prosecutors in the United States, Al Jazeera reports. The New York Times was the first to report the existence of the two probes on Friday, citing sources familiar with the proceedings. Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet oppose government’s 60% free seat selection decision, The Hindu

The Hindu reports that IndiGo, Air India and SpiceJet have raised strong objections to the government's decision asking airlines not to levy any charges for the selection of at least 60% seats on flights, saying the move will force them to hike airfares to recover lost revenues. The Federation of Indian Airlines (FIA), which represents the three airlines, has also urged the Civil Aviation Ministry to take steps to withdraw the decision, the report says. US President Donald Trump said the US is considering "winding down" operations against Iran, BBC reports, but he added that other nations must guard the Strait of Hormuz, a vital shipping lane for oil. Trump also said that he does not want a ceasefire. The US is making detailed plans for the possibility of deploying ground troops to Iran, the BBC's US partner CBS News reports.
