AAP alleges voter deletion fraud in Kejriwal’s constituency during 2025 Assembly elections, Indian Express
A day after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi levelled charges against the Election Commission of India on vote theft, AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj Friday claimed that ‘vote chori’ took place in former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s New Delhi constituency before the 2025 Delhi elections through fraud and impersonation to delete non-BJP voters’ names. Indian Express reports that former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi wrote to the then Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar on January 5, saying that 6,166 requests for voter deletions had been filed in the constituency. She said the constituency’s voter roll had dropped from 1.48 lakh to 1.06 lakh after the summary revision that was completed in October 2024. Read the full report here.
ABVP sweeps DUSU polls, NDTV reports
The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party, secured a decisive victory in the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) Election 2025, NDTV reports, winning the key posts of President, Secretary and Joint Secretary, while the Congress-backed NSUI claimed the Vice President position. The Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections on Thursday saw more than 2.75 lakh eligible students cast their votes across over 50 constituent colleges. BBC reports, minister rejects Trump's call for military to tackle illegal migration
The UK military is focused on defending the nation rather than stopping asylum seekers from crossing the Channel, a cabinet minister has said. BBC reports that US President Donald Trump suggested that military intervention could be used to deal with illegal migration to the UK during his state visit this week. But Trade Secretary Peter Kyle has rejected that call, telling BBC Breakfast the UK Border Force has specific responsibility for policing UK borders. Hundreds of migrants attempted to cross the Channel earlier today, as the second deportation under the government's "one in, one out" deal with France took place. Read the full report here.
IMD forecasts widespread rainfall across Arunachal till Sep 23: Hindustan Times
The India Meteorological Department on Friday predicted widespread rainfall across Arunachal Pradesh, with several districts likely to witness thunderstorms and moderate to heavy showers, till September 23, Hindustan Times reports. According to a bulletin issued by the meteorological centre here, scattered rainfall and thundershowers may be witnessed in most parts of the state during the period. Iran hits out ahead of UN vote on nuclear sanctions, Al Jazeera
Al Jazeera reports Iran has hit out at European states that have threatened to revive international sanctions over the monitoring of its nuclear programme. Tehran officials on Friday accused the European states, which have said they will reimpose international sanctions by the end of the month if Tehran does not meet conditions, of “political bias” and insisted that they have presented fair proposals to resolve the issue. The report mentions that the complaints come ahead of a scheduled United Nations Security Council (UNSC) vote later on Friday on a resolution that would permanently lift UN sanctions.
