Times of India live streams the Congress Presidential Elections

Times of India’s live feed of the Congress Presidential Elections says that Sonia Gandhi cast her vote and said that she was waiting for a long time for this day. This is for the first time in 24 years that the Congress Party is opting for a ‘non-Gandhi’ president. The race for the presidential post is between senior leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Shashi Tharoor. According to the report, Tharoor was the first to declare his intent to run for the post. Reuters talks about UK's tax plan

 

Replacing Kwasi Kwarteng, the new British Finance Minister Jeremey Hunt will be announcing the tax and spending measures, reports Reuters. It also mentions that this announcement is scheduled two weeks earlier than expected. Hunt will be rewriting Truss’s economic plans; this will include excellent trade rises in Asia. The report also mentions that the lawmakers from the ruling Conservative Party are protesting to drive Truss out of office, stating that it is now clear that Hunt has seized control of the government. Reliance Jio in talks with global lenders, reports The Economic Times

The Economic Times reports that Reliance Jio is planning to raise an additional $1.5 billion which is about Rs 12,300 crore, via external commercial borrowings (ECBs) to fund the 5G CAPEX. Reliance has already reached out to foreign banks including BNP Paribas, HSBC and MUFG Bank. This fundraising is said to be in addition to the $2.5 billion which is about Rs 20,600 crore, raised via offshore syndicated loans. The report mentions that Mukesh Ambani is in talks with overseas lenders for the same. The funds raised will be used for the 5G gear networks which will be purchased from Sweden’s Ericsson and Nokia in Finland. Read the full report on ET.

 

CBI summons Manish Sisodia, reports Indian Express

Indian Express reports that Manish Sisodia is set to appear before the CBI in connection with the liquor policy case. He called this case “completely fake”, while the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the agency was going to arrest him to stop him from campaigning in Gujrat. The report also added that the police have imposed prohibitive orders under Section 144 outside Sisodia’s house. To this news, the Aam Admi Party (AAP) supporters are likely going to protest outside his house just before his appearance before the CBI. Read the full report on IE.  

 

BBC: Kamikaze drones attacked Kyiv

 

The Ukrainian capital Kyiv has been hit by at least four explosions; the officials say that it was the Kamikaze drones sent by Russia. In reference to this attack, Andriy Yermack, head of Ukrainian President Zelensky’s staff said that the attack shows desperation. In this attack, the residential buildings in the central Shevchenkivskyi area have been damaged. The report also says that the low buzzing of the slow-moving drones has become a familiar site across the country. Read the full report on BBC.
