DNA test confirms Dr Umar Nabi Bhat drove i20 that blew up near Red Fort: Indian Express
The DNA samples of Dr Umar Nabi Bhat, who allegedly drove the i20 car involved in the blast near Red Fort that claimed nine lives and left several injured Monday evening, have matched with those of his mother’s, Indian Express reports. According to sources, DNA samples from Bhat’s mother were collected in Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir and brought to Delhi to be matched with unidentified bodies kept at Lok Nayak Hospital. The report says the DNA samples of Bhat and his mother were matched and further details will be examined later. Read the full report here.
NDTV on Supreme Court's "permanent damage" warning as Delhi pollution worsens

As toxic air chokes Delhi and the Air Quality Index remains in the 'severe' category, NDTV reports that the Supreme Court today sounded an alarm, saying that the "situation is very serious" and that masks are not sufficient to protect residents' health. The bench of Justice PS Narasimha and Justice AS Chandurkar was hearing a matter when it asked the lawyers why they were not appearing virtually for hearings. Several areas in the national capital recorded AQI more than 400 -- the 'severe' category -- this morning, the report says. Read the full report here.
South Sudan leader sacks powerful vice-president in shock move, BBC reports
South Sudan's leader Salva Kiir has in a shock move dismissed one of his vice-presidents, Benjamin Bol Mel, who had been tipped as his possible successor. BBC reports that Kiir stripped Bol Mel of his military rank of general and dismissed him from the national security service. He also sacked the central bank governor and the head of the revenue authority, both considered close allies of Bol Mel. The report adds that no explanation was given for the dismissals, which were announced in a decree broadcast on state television. Read the full report here.
Mizoram district enforces Epidemic Act, seals village after 6 die of gastroenteritis, Hindustan Times
The district administration in Mizoram’s Lawngtlai has invoked the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, following the deaths of six people from suspected gastroenteritis in Kakichhuah village, near the Indo-Myanmar border, over the past 10 days, officials said on Wednesday. Cambodia evacuates hundreds from disputed Thai border as tensions reignite, Al Jazeera

Cambodia has evacuated hundreds of its citizens from a village on the disputed border it shares with Thailand as tensions between the neighbours are flaring, threatening a ceasefire agreed in July, Al Jazeera reports. About 250 families from Prey Chan in Cambodia’s northwestern province of Banteay Meanchey were taken on Thursday to a Buddhist temple 29km (18 miles) from the border, according to provincial Vice Governor Ly Sovannarith.The evacuation took place a day after a man identified as Dy Nai was said to have been killed in a shootout between Cambodian and Thai soldiers around the same frontier village.
