An IndiGo flight from New Delhi to Manchester in the UK was forced to make a mid-air u-turn and is returning to the Indian capital after flying for about seven hours on Monday, Hindustan Times reports. This happened because of last-minute airspace restrictions linked to the ongoing tensions in West Asia (or Middle East) since the US and Israel attacked Iran 10 days ago. The move comes as Bangladesh faces mounting uncertainty over fuel and gas supplies following disruptions to global energy markets caused by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. The benchmark oil price has passed $100 a barrel for the first time since 2022, as the Middle East war enters a 10th day. BBC reports that the rise is likely to further increase petrol prices. UK PM Keir Starmer said the longer the war goes on, "the more likely the potential for an impact on our economy" - and that he's working to minimise the effects on UK businesses. In the US, President Donald Trump said the "short term" price increase is a "a very small price to pay" for world peace, the report adds. Read the full report here.
