Indian Air Force Jaguar trainer aircraft crashes in Rajasthan’s Churu, Hindustan Times
A Jaguar trainer aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed during a routine training mission in Rajasthan's Churu district on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in the death of both pilots on board, Hindustan Times reports. The aircraft crashed in an agriculture field in Bhanoda village around 1.25 pm, SHO Rajaldesar Kamlessh told news agency PTI. The report mentions that three months earlier, in April, a similar incident occurred when a two-seater Jaguar aircraft belonging to the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed shortly after taking off from Jamnagar Airfield during a night mission. 10 killed after bridge collapses in Gujarat’s Vadodara, Indian Express reports
At least 10 people, including three from a family, were killed and nine others were injured after multiple vehicles fell into the Mahisagar River when a 43-year-old bridge in Gujarat’s Vadodara district collapsed early Wednesday. While speaking to The Indian Express, Rohan Anand, Superintendent of Police, Vadodara, confirmed that the death toll stood at 10. Anand said three more people were feared drowned, even as personnel of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are scouting the river for survivors. Days after Texas floods, BBC says at least 161 people are still missing in one county
At least 161 people are still missing in a single Texas county four days after deadly and devastating flash floods hit parts of the state, Governor Greg Abbott said, as hope fades for survivors to be found. BBC reports that the missing in the hard-hit Kerr County include five campers and a counsellor from Camp Mystic, a Christian all-girls summer camp located on the banks of the Guadalupe River. At least 111 people have died in the disaster, according to the latest county-by-county tolls published by US media. More than 90 were in the Kerrville area. Read the full report here.
India Today on arrest of a ship on Kerala coast
After the Kerala High Court on Monday ordered the conditional "arrest" of the cargo ship MSC Akiteta II, the vessel owned by MSC Shipping Co, was detained at Thiruvananthapuram's Vizhinjam Port, India Today reports. The arrest, however, was not for the MSC Akiteta II's own actions but for the environmental and financial mess left behind by its sister vessel, MSC Elsa III, which was owned by the same MSC Shipping Co, and sank off the coast of Kerala's Alappuzha in May. The court's decision came after the Kerala government, in an admiralty suit, sought Rs 9,531 crore compensation for environmental damage after the shipping vessel capsized off its coast. Al Jazeera reports, Israel kills 105 Palestinians in Gaza in 24 hours
At least 105 Palestinians, including seven aid seekers, have been killed and 530 injured in Israeli attacks across Gaza in the past 24 hours, Al Jazeera reports according to the enclave’s Health Ministry. United States President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have met for the second time in 24 hours about a ceasefire in Gaza, but there appears to be no breakthrough. The report says that the United Nations has warned that the fuel crisis in Gaza due to the Israeli blockade has reached a “critical point” and will cause further deaths and suffering in the besieged Palestinian territory.
