Scandinavian Airlines' first India flight in 17 years hits approval snag: NDTV report
Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has suffered a major embarrassment after its first flight to India in 17 years was forced to turn around halfway through the journey due to a paperwork error, NDTV reports. Flight SK969 departed Copenhagen Airport on June 2, 2026, bound for Mumbai. The report says that the new route was a significant milestone for the carrier, marking its highly anticipated return to the Indian market. However, four hours into the journey, while cruising over Azerbaijan, the Airbus A330-300 was ordered to turn back. Read the full report here.
Southwest monsoon arrives in Kerala, The Hindu

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed the arrival of the southwest monsoon in Kerala on Thursday, The Hindu reports. This is three days later than the normal onset date of June 1 and four days behind the date the department itself had forecast. As heavy rains lashed various parts of Kerala since the previous night, the IMD on Thursday issued an orange alert for Alappuzha, Kottayam and Ernakulam districts for three hours. China bans four New Zealand MPs over Taiwan visit, BBC reports
In a first, China has banned four New Zealand Members of Parliament for a year over their visit to Taiwan, New Zealand's foreign ministry says. BBC reports that the MPs learned of the ban - which the Chinese Embassy said could be reduced or waived with an apology - when they returned from the trip in May, local media reported on Thursday. China claims the self-governed island of Taiwan as its territory, and has tried to restrict the island's foreign engagements. Read the full report here.
Intense storm, rain hit Delhi-NCR, Hindustan Times
Heavy rain and intense thunderstorms lashed parts of Delhi-NCR on Thursday, bringing respite from days of scorching heat. Hindustan Times reports that the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for two days alert as skies turned grey. Visuals show gusty winds in parts of Noida with IMD forecasting 'partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers' will continue in the city till 6 June, the report says. Israel attack injuries several after new Lebanon ceasefire, Al Jazeera reports
Several people have been wounded in an Israeli drone attack on a vehicle after Israel and Lebanon officials agreed to halt the war during a series of meetings in Washington, DC, Al Jazeera reports. Before the truce announcement, Hezbollah said it launched a “salvo of rockets” at Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon’s Qantara and fired drones at troops near the strategic Beaufort Castle. The report adds that the US House of Representatives passed a resolution to rein in US President Donald Trump’s powers to attack Iran without congressional authorisation in a vote of 215 to 208.
