A video shared by former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar's son, Jay Pawar flags serious lapses by VSR Ventures, the charter company operating Learjet 45 XR that crashed in Baramati leading to the death of Ajit Pawar and four others on board, NDTV reports. "I have lost my father... this pain will stay with me for the rest of my life," Jay Pawar said while sharing the video that shows a man in civilian clothes, sleeping while seated in the left seat of the cockpit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday reacted to the escalating US-Iran-Israel conflict and said that the situation in West Asia is a "matter of grave concern for us". Hindustan Times reports, speaking at a joint press conference with Canadian PM Mark Carney, Modi said, "India supports resolution of all conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy." Kidnapping of foreigners soars in Africa's lawless Sahel region, BBC reports
In 2025, growing insecurity and new jihadist tactics led to a notable increase in high-profile abductions of foreign nationals in the Sahel, BBC reports. The latest data from Acled, an independent global conflict monitor, shows a considerable increase in the kidnapping of foreigners in Mali and Niger in 2025, compared to previous years. The report says that there were 30 separate kidnapping events affecting foreigners by the end of November, and the number for the whole year is likely to be even higher. Read the full report here.
Delhi schools receive bomb threat emails, India Today
India Today reports that several schools in the national capital received bomb threats via email on Monday morning, triggering panic among students, parents and school authorities. According to the Delhi Fire Service, information about the threatening emails was received around 8 am. Following this, the report says that calls were made to the fire department and the police, prompting immediate action. Teams from the fire service and the Delhi Police rushed to the affected schools and began thorough checks of the premises. Iran continues to strike US assets across the Gulf after the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and up to 40 top Iranian officials, Al Jazeera reports. Ali Larijani, the secretary of Iran’s National Security Council, has refuted US media claims that he had made a fresh push to resume nuclear talks with Washington.
