NDTV on 4-dustbin waste rule starting from today
NDTV reports that the Centre has implemented revised waste management rules from April 1. The new guidelines require all households and establishments to segregate garbage into four categories. Under the updated Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, authorities have expanded the earlier two-bin system, wet and dry waste, into a four-bin framework. While hearing the pleas challenging the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in West Bengal, the Supreme Court said that if a person is excluded and consequently unable to vote in the election, such exclusion if found unjustified by the appellate tribunal headed by former Chief Justice, can be rectified and the voter can be added. Indian Express reports that a bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and Vipul M Pancholi heard the matter earlier today. The court further added that likewise, if a person is incorrectly included and votes in the election, and a report is made to the tribunal, there is no reason why the entire cleansing exercise should not be taken to its logical conclusion. Trump says he's considering leaving Nato, BBC reports
US President Donald Trump said he is strongly considering pulling out of Nato, according to an interview he gave to the Telegraph, and said the US military action in Iran could end in "two to three weeks", BBC reports. Meanwhile, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the UK will host a meeting with dozens of countries this week on the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Tehran has the "necessary will" to end the war provided its enemies guarantee it will not flare up again, the report adds. Read the full report here.
Oracle fires 12,000 employees in India, Hindustan Times reports
Around 12,000 employees in India are reportedly part of the 30,000 laid off by Oracle, a US-based tech giant, with another round of job cuts expected within a month. Hindustan Times reports that Oracle, American multinational technology company headquartered in Austin, has reportedly fired around 30,000 employees globally. Chiang Mai has declared wildfire disaster zones in two districts, The Straits Times reports, as worsening forest fires and haze continue to batter parts of the northern province in Thailand. The provincial authorities have now officially designated Samoeng and Hot as disaster-affected areas and emergency assistance zones in a bid to speed up support for residents hit by the ongoing crisis.
