NCB drops charges against Aryan Khan in drugs-on-cruise case, Indian Express

 

The latest update by the Indian Express says that the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has dropped its case against Aryan Khan, son of actor Shahrukh Khan, in a chargesheet filed on Friday in the drugs-on-cruise case due to lack of sufficient evidence. Khan is said to be among the six against whom charges have been dropped. While there were 20 persons, including Aryan Khan, arrested in the case, the chargesheet has been filed against 14. Texas school gunman 'walked in unobstructed', BBC report on Uvalde shooting

The gunman who attacked a school in Texas on Tuesday was able to enter the building unobstructed as per the police, a BBC report on the Texas school shooting said. Texas Ranger Victor Escalon said no armed guard challenged the teenage attacker and it is unclear if the school door was even locked. In an earlier repor, witnesses were quoted as saying police were hesitant to confront the killer inside the Robb Elementary School. The attacker shot dead 19 students and two teachers, and injured at least 17 more people. Read the full report on BBC.

 

The Hindu report on SC Collegium recommending the transfer of six HC judges

The Supreme Court Collegium led by Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana has recommended the government transfer or repatriate judges in six different high courts. Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah, Justice Chitta Ranjan Dash,  Justice Subhasis Talapatra, Justice Lanusungkum Jamir, Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav are the judges whose names have been recommended as per the report by the Hindu. The inter-State transfers of high court judges recommended by the Collegium take further Chief Justice Ramana’s recent stress on inclusivity in the judiciary, the report further says. Reuters report says Japan to 'drastically strengthen' military capability

A Reuters report based on an economic policy draft accessed by the news agency states that Japan aims to "drastically strengthen" its military capabilities. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, meeting US President Joe Biden on Monday, pledged to "substantially increase" Japan's defence budget, the Reuters report in this regard further said. The draft does not gives details about spending, but says for that regional security in East Asia is becoming increasingly severe, as there have been "attempts to unilaterally change the status quo by force" in the region. Scroll report on terror charges and demolition in ravaged Assam village, post custodial death and arson

 

A ground report by Scroll visits the village in Assam's Nagaon districts, where lives have been disrupted post an alleged custodial death and the alleged arson attack on police station following the death. On Monday, the village of about 3,000 residents, mostly Bengali-origin Muslims, appeared deserted, the report say. It says that some homes in the village were demolished, wherein, the police earlier called the demolitions an ‘anti-encroachment drive’ are now described as ‘search operations’.
