Pune: Leaving behind luxury cars and opting for cycling seems to be a popular fitness mantra in the post-Covid world. The rising sun of the 31st December, 2022 witnessed the COEP Technological University’s Zest’23 CYCLOTHON. This cyclothon was having two categories of 15KM and 30KM.As human behavior and choices destabilize the Earth’s climate and biosphere, this was a small step to encourage people to be more responsible and go for the ‘GREEN’ choices. Thus, this Cyclothon's motto was "Gear to go Green." For humanity, a series of tiny moves can eventually become a big leap.

Preeti Mhaske (a cyclist and Guinness World Record holder), Sachin Wakadkar (an Ironman), Shashikant Kumbhar, and Nilesh Londhe Sir served as the event's key guests to raise the energy level. They signalled the start of the event. To make this event a grand success, a total of more than 500 enthusiastic participants across the state were present. The behind-the-scenes scenario was quite great, as more than 300 volunteers gave their best to accomplish this event. All of these volunteers were students of COEP Technological University.

The feedbacks from the participants were impressive. Few of them are- “The event was very smoothly organized, there were barricades all over for our safety. We were sure that we would not be run over by any other vehicle on road”, “It was heartening to see the participants across all age groups taking part in Cyclothon. This is the first time since the pandemic that I’ve seen all smiling faces come together for an outdoor physical activity like this.”

The lives of the participants and those beyond them will undoubtedly be impacted by this, last but not least. It was a wonderful pleasure to do so as a participant or as a volunteer.
